My Story
My interest in photography started when I was in high school, but it took my first child
turning and looking at me in a plastic hat covered with rain drops, to realize I preferred
people over sunsets. I enjoy the satisfaction of photographing people and making them happy with their
image. That aspect of my work is important to me, especially with the self
esteem of women. My own background plays a part in why I enjoy shooting the boudoir while striving to
keep my rates affordable.
When I moved to Washington State, I became a hair
stylist and wanted a portfolio to show my work. I started taking before and
after pictures of my clients. Besides the hair styling, I complimented their
new look with makeup and something nice to wear. People told me these were
the best photos they ever had of themselves. I kept doing hair and makeovers
and then was asked by a local fashion agency to photograph head shots as well
as doing makeup for the agency models which was 20 years ago. This branched
out to high school seniors and then wedding work while the glamour and
boudoir portraiture flourished. At that time, I was focusing exclusively on
photography which became the artistic endeavors of Suza Marie Studio.
I have always felt my photography had a healing effect on those who need it.
At times psychiatric personnel send me their patients who have had sexual abuse
believing they can benefit by seeing the beautiful person they are and grasp their inner being
in a healthy manner. I easily make people feel safe and comfortable to open up and blossom before my lens.
I focus on each client's unique style and personality to capture the essence
of who they are. This is my joy, my talent, my gift....for those who embrace
it.
